This captures what leadership really feels like when there’s no clear path. I like the focus on showing up with steadiness even when you don’t have answers. It’s a good reminder that people don’t need certainty, they need presence. I must say I find anchor 3 the most challenging at times but I suspect I'm not alone. Thanks for sharing
Thank you Ash, and I really appreciate how you framed it: people don't need certainty, they need presence. That's actually a sharper way of putting it than I did, and it gets to the heart of what anchors 1 and 2 are really about.
And you're right, anchor 3 is the one most people quietly struggle with the most. There's something about waiting to feel ready that feels responsible, even sensible. The reframe I keep coming back to is that readiness is largely a feeling, not a fact. The information you need to feel ready often only becomes available once you move.
That said, easier to write than to live. I find it still catches me too!
Glad this resonated, and thanks for taking the time to sit with it.
My pleasure Tash, I'm working my way through your archive of articles and a lot of what you say resonates. We seem quite aligned on how we think of leadership and the relevance of eQ (it's also nice to read the work of another Aussie :) )
